Base Tuono (Thunder Base) is a wonderful gem up in the mountains of northeastern Italy, we visited on May 6 after our two-week tour ended in Venice.
Outside the shelter are three raised Hercules, inside is a cutaway. There are also an Ajax and many other items, including an F-104S.
There’s an MTR, TTR, plus working gear for tracking and launching. I made contact way ahead and got a great tour from Eugenio Ferri.

Plan ahead: This great site is hard to reach way up in the mountains on narrow, winding roads.
You can take a train to Folgaria and a taxi from there, another option is renting a car from whatever city you’re in.
We hired a driver from Venice. It was expensive but worth the cost as the mountain roads are challenging.
